Strikes Hit Donetsk and Cherkasy Regions
According to МВС: Russian military attacks on Ukraine's Donetsk and Cherkasy regions have resulted in the deaths of five civilians, including children. The city of Kramatorsk, which endured 11 separate strikes, saw four people killed. Among the victims were an 8-year-old boy, two 19-year-old twin brothers, and their 63-year-old neighbor. Four others were wounded in Kramatorsk, including the mother and grandmother of the deceased children.
In the Cherkasy region, Russian forces struck with a 'Geran-2' UAV, killing one civilian and wounding two others. A separate drone strike in the village of Malotaranivka injured three more people. The city of Druzhkivka also came under fire, suffering nine attacks, five of which involved 'KAB-250' bombs. These bombardments wounded three more civilians.
The Regional Context
These incidents underscore the ongoing violence in areas that have borne the brunt of the conflict since Russia's full-scale invasion began in 2022. The persistent high level of threat to civilians in Ukraine remains critical, particularly due to direct attacks on residential areas. Such events cause alarm not only among local communities but also within the international community, highlighting the urgent need for pathways to a peaceful resolution and for ensuring the protection of non-combatants.
