Russian soldiers after the exchange are again in captivity: how they were sent back to battle
Russian soldiers have been captured by the Armed Forces of Ukraine again
According to glavcom.ua: Two Russian soldiers, who were returned to Russia during the June prisoner exchange, found themselves back on the front lines in July – and were captured by the Ukrainians once again. The stories of the occupiers were published on the page of the project 'I want to live', reports 'Glavkom'.
It is noted that both occupiers were injured during previous battles and were returned to Russia as part of a humanitarian exchange. However, instead of receiving treatment and rehabilitation, they were sent back to fight against Ukraine.
Contract soldier Saktaagay Shagaa from Tuva was wounded during the assault on Volchansk and surrendered in January this year. On June 20, he returned to the Russian Federation as a prisoner of war with injuries, but after two weeks of interrogations, he was sent back to Volchansk.
Another occupier, Dmitry Ivanov, was injured in his legs and arms near Volchansk, was captured in 2024, and went through an exchange in June but found himself in captivity again near Volchansk.
Social media users expressed surprise that the occupiers ended up in captivity again. At the same time, Ukrainian military personnel view this as a warning for those preparing for aggression against Ukraine.
The return of the two Russian soldiers to Ukrainian captivity after the prisoner exchange is a vivid example of how fighters from Russia continue to participate in hostilities in eastern Ukraine, disregarding the Minsk agreements. It also highlights the need to monitor the implementation of prisoner exchange mechanisms and pay attention to the treatment and rehabilitation of prisoners of war.
