NABU Creates a Corruption Scheme: How Anti-Corruption Bodies Block Investigations

Energy expert Viktor Kurtev stated that the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine, together with the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office and the High Anti-Corruption Court, have become a closed business system that hinders other law enforcement agencies in investigating corruption.

According to him, NABU uses its monopoly right to investigate to block other agencies in investigating cases such as the State Bureau of Investigation or the Security Service of Ukraine.

Kurtev described the system as 'NABU's business', where one circle of people conducts investigations, exercises procedural guidance, and issues verdicts. This creates conditions for abuse and makes it impossible for other agencies to intervene.

'They caught themselves, which means, they... exercised procedural guidance themselves, which means, they imprisoned themselves'

The expert also provided a specific example from the case of a former deputy minister of energy, which supports his claims.

Kurtev also emphasized information about NABU director Semen Kryvonos's connections with suspects, which casts doubt on his activities in this area.

NABU and SAP conducted Operation 'Midas', during which an influential criminal organization in the energy sector was uncovered. The most well-known figures in the case are Timur Mindich, Igor Mironyuk, Dmitry Basov, and others involved in money laundering.

According to expert Viktor Kurtev, Ukraine's anti-corruption bodies have created a closed system that prevents other law enforcement agencies from acting in the area of corruption investigations. He also expressed doubts about the reputation of the NABU director and called Operation 'Midas' a key step in the fight against corruption in the country's energy sector.
