Saudi Aramco Denies Reports of Talks to Acquire Ukrainian Drones
Oil Giant and Manufacturer Reject Claims of Negotiations
According to Главком: Saudi Arabia's state-owned oil company, Aramco, has denied a report from The Wall Street Journal that it was in talks to purchase Ukrainian-made interceptor drones. The newspaper had claimed Aramco was discussing potential acquisitions with Ukrainian manufacturers, including SkyFall and Wild Hornets, seeking systems to defend its oil and gas infrastructure from Iranian drone attacks.
Wild Hornets, a Ukrainian company specializing in the Sting interceptor drone, has also refuted the story. The firm stated it is not engaged in export negotiations with any Gulf governments or local companies. For context, Iran and its proxies have repeatedly targeted energy infrastructure in the Middle East, creating high demand for cost-effective air defense. Wild Hornets emphasized its current focus is on supplying Ukraine's Armed Forces, National Guard, Security Service, and Main Intelligence Directorate.
As Wild Hornets representatives noted, 'Our current efforts are focused on cooperation with the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the National Guard, the Security Service of Ukraine, and the Main Intelligence Directorate.'
U.S. Deployment and Broader Regional Cooperation
Separately, U.S. Army Secretary Dan Driscoll confirmed that the American military has already sent 10,000 Ukrainian-developed interceptor drones to the Middle East. This deployment aims to counter Iranian attacks on energy infrastructure without relying on expensive missile defense systems. In a related development, Ukraine has dispatched three teams of professional experts to Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan.
These events point to Ukraine's growing security cooperation with Middle Eastern nations, particularly regarding emerging regional threats. Collaborative efforts in military technology could strengthen Ukraine's international standing and contribute to stability in a region experiencing significant conflict and aggression.
