Drone Strike Hits Critical 'Samara' Pumping Station

According to Главком: Ukrainian Security Service drones targeted the 'Samara' oil pumping station in the settlement of Prosves, Samara Oblast, Russia, during the night of April 21. The attack damaged five storage tanks, each with a capacity of 20,000 cubic meters and containing crude oil. This facility is crucial for blending high- and low-sulfur crude to produce Russia's primary export blend, Urals. Attacks on such infrastructure are part of a broader Ukrainian campaign to degrade the Russian war economy.

Coordinated Attacks Across Rostov Oblast

That same night, multiple explosions were reported in the city of Novocherkassk, Rostov Oblast. The region's governor, Yuri Slyusar, stated that the area had come under a massive aerial attack. He claimed Russian air defenses destroyed over four dozen drones in the city of Taganrog and across 11 districts. Additionally, in the Oktyabrsky district near the Persyanovsky settlement, operations on the railway contact network were disrupted.

This follows a previous large-scale drone attack on Samara Oblast on April 18, which primarily struck the city of Novokuybyshevsk. According to a source, striking these key junction stations directly reduces Russia's ability to form export oil batches and meet contractual obligations. This disrupts the crude supply balance, increases logistics and storage costs, and creates risks of supply disruptions. Consequently, Russia receives diminishing revenues from oil sales, funds it relies on to finance its war against Ukraine.

These strikes on Russian oil infrastructure demonstrate Ukraine's growing capability to conduct long-range operations and strategically impact the enemy's economy.
