Suspect Detained for Allegedly Coordinating Russian Attacks

According to Главком: Ukraine's Security Service (SBU) has arrested a man suspected of coordinating Russian strikes in Kyiv and the Donetsk region. Investigators allege he provided the occupiers with locations of energy facilities and command posts. Law enforcement officials note that the suspect worked as a security guard at one of Kyiv's universities.

Russian military intelligence (GRU) recruited the man through his sister, who lives in Russia. 'The agent's relative later served as a liaison. Specifically, she relayed coordinates to the GRU on his behalf,' the SBU stated.

According to the investigation, the suspect monitored the aftermath of Russian attacks on Kyiv and adjusted subsequent strikes. He also assisted Russia in targeting sites in the Donetsk region.

Suspect's Activities and Consequences

The suspect surveilled thermal power plants and other energy infrastructure in the capital, driving around the city and marking locations on maps with photos of damaged structures. He gathered data on the deployment of reserve command posts and defensive positions of Ukraine's Armed Forces in the Donetsk region.

He also collected intelligence on the locations of reserve command posts and combat positions of Ukrainian forces in Donetsk. To do this, he discreetly questioned acquaintances about Ukrainian defenders on various fronts in the eastern region.

The man was arrested at his home in the Kyiv region. He is suspected under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason under martial law) and is in custody without the possibility of bail. He faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

According to the investigation, that suspect, a resident of the Kyiv region, contacted a representative of hostile intelligence services via the Telegram messenger in February 2026.
