Average Salary in Ukraine Reaches 30,515 UAH
Ukraine’s April 2026 Wage Data Reveals Regional and Sectoral Gaps
According to Главком: The State Statistics Service of Ukraine has released its latest figures on employee compensation for April 2026. The average nominal salary for a full-time worker in Ukraine climbed to 30,515 UAH, marking a 0.5% increase compared to March. However, the national average masks significant disparities across different regions.
Kyiv leads the country with the highest average income at 48,003 UAH, while the surrounding Kyiv region ranks second with 30,584 UAH. At the other end of the spectrum, Chernivtsi region reports an average of just 21,687 UAH, and Kirovohrad region has the lowest earnings at 21,199 UAH. These figures highlight a stark economic divide between Ukraine’s capital and its rural areas.
Pay Differences Across Industries
The data also reveals substantial variation in wages by sector. The information and telecommunications field (including IT and communications) offers the highest average salary at 77,861 UAH. In contrast, workers in arts, sports, entertainment, and recreation earn the least, with an average of only 19,855 UAH.
As of May 1, 2026, total salary arrears owed by Ukrainian enterprises and organizations amounted to 3.7 billion UAH. This backlog underscores ongoing challenges in wage payments that require urgent action from both the government and employers. Despite a slight uptick in the overall average, regional and industry-specific imbalances remain pressing issues for the Ukrainian economy.
The figures on average wages and payment arrears indicate that Ukraine faces serious obstacles in ensuring fair compensation for its workforce.
Wage disparities between regions can drive labor mobility and affect local economic development. It is crucial for state authorities to address these problems to prevent deepening social inequality and to guarantee decent working conditions for all citizens.
As the average salary in Ukraine continues to rise, it's important to consider how this trend impacts different sectors and regions. Notably, recent reports indicate that salaries within regional administrations have seen a significant increase, which may contribute to narrowing the wage gap across the country. Understanding these dynamics can provide deeper insights into the overall economic landscape and the challenges that still lie ahead.
