Gas consumption in Ukraine has increased by 20%: what does it threaten this winter
According to Natalia Boyko, Deputy Head of the Supervisory Board of Naftogaz, natural gas consumption in Ukraine is rapidly increasing, and this trend is becoming more pronounced every day. In particular, in the household sector, the increase in gas usage is 20% just since the beginning of the current week.
'If we compare gas consumption figures on Monday, October 13, and today – the increase is around 20%. Ukrainians are actively heating up with gas, although everyone understands how difficult the situation is this season'
According to Natalia Boyko's warning, the heating season of 2025–2026 will not be easy, so citizens are urged to revise their energy resource usage habits and conserve them. She emphasized that gas consumption exceeds last year's figures for the same period and urged citizens at home to wear additional clothing and save energy resources as much as possible.
Increasing gas consumption may pose a threat to the gas transportation system
Experts predict that the rise in gas consumption may lead to additional pressure on Ukraine's gas transportation system as early as the middle of winter. Naftogaz urges Ukrainians to use energy rationally to avoid fuel shortages in the coldest months of the year.
Ukraine is experiencing a sharp increase in natural gas consumption, particularly in the household sector. Naftogaz warns of the possible consequences of this trend, including a threat to the country's gas transportation system.
