Denys Shmyhal resigned

According to hvylya.net: Denys Shmyhal took the final step in his political career by resigning as Prime Minister of Ukraine. He published the document confirming this on his Telegram channel, expressing gratitude.

'Thank you to our defenders who are holding the front and protecting Ukraine! Thank you to the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky for the trust! Thank you to the whole team for their tireless work for the benefit of our state!', – wrote Shmyhal in his address.

During his more than five years as Prime Minister, Denys Shmyhal set a record, becoming the longest-serving head in this position in the history of independent Ukraine. He took office in March 2020, succeeding Oleksiy Honcharuk, who was the first Prime Minister during Volodymyr Zelensky's presidency.

Shmyhal's career

Before heading the government, Shmyhal distinguished himself by leading the Ministry of Community and Territory Development as Deputy Prime Minister. His career also included work in the energy sector and heading a regional administration.

Rumors about Shmyhal's possible resignation had been circulating for some time, but this time they were confirmed. According to legislation, his resignation automatically entails the resignation of the entire government, although there are restrictions for authorities in a state of martial law.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal resigned after five years in office, and the budget and consequences of this event remain in question.
