Valeriy Markus on the Asymmetry in the Army: Why the Soldier Bears the Greatest Risk

The soldier is the most vulnerable person in the army
Валерій Маркус про нерівність у війську: чому найвищу загрозу несе солдат

According to hvylya.net: Noted former chief sergeant of the 47th Brigade and writer, Valeriy Markus, pointed out that soldiers in the Ukrainian army have minimal rights, yet they bear the greatest risk. Emphasizing the asymmetry in punishments for military personnel of different ranks, he highlighted the need to reform the Sergeant Corps and create an institution that can protect the interests of soldiers.

'The state cares about the preservation of forces and resources, but instead of implementing a tool that would represent the interests of the soldiers, they are increasing punishments for the soldiers,' Markus noted.

Furthermore, he stated that the soldier is an integral part of any army, and without their presence, it is impossible to ensure the effective functioning of the platoon, battalion, and other units.

Markus plans to launch a large-scale informational campaign aimed at drawing public attention to the problems in the army, in particular to the need for changes in the system of punishments and the protection of soldiers' rights.
