Treason Charges for SBU Counter-Terrorism Chief

According to Главком: The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has formally sent the treason case of Dmitry Kozura, the head of staff at the SBU's Anti-Terrorist Center, to court. Kozura was exposed in February 2025 for collaborating with Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB), an announcement the SBU made on February 12. The subsequent court hearings will be held behind closed doors. This case highlights the ongoing internal security challenges Ukraine faces amidst the war with Russia.

Dmitry Kozura, who was personally detained by SBU chief Vasyl Maliuk, had previously received presidential awards in 2016, including a medal 'For Participation in the Anti-Terrorist Operation' and a commendation for diligent service. The operation to uncover the agent was codenamed 'Rat'. It has been reported that Kozura has expressed a desire to be exchanged to the Russian Federation.

An Alleged Accomplice

An accomplice in the case, Maksym Sytienkov, has also been formally notified of suspicion for state treason. All circumstances of the case are currently under investigation, and its further development will remain a focus of public attention.

This case has generated significant interest as it involves a high-ranking official who played a key role in national security. The investigation and trial could impact public trust in state authorities and the SBU, as well as the broader security situation in Ukraine. Its outcome is crucial for both society and the state, raising serious questions about the effectiveness of law enforcement in countering external threats.
