The General of the Russian Ministry of Defense Arrested for Embezzling 57 Million Rubles in Medical Procurement
According to glavcom.ua: Russian law enforcement accused the former head of the 9th medical and diagnostic center of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, Major General Konstantin Kuvshinov, of embezzling over 57 million rubles in the procurement of medical equipment. According to law enforcement, Kuvshinov entered into a contract worth more than 100 million rubles with the companies 'Delrus' and 'TDA-Service', but inflated the cost of supplies and appropriated the difference.
The 'profit' was shared with representatives of the supplying firms, leading to the opening of criminal cases for fraud and the arrest of other suspects, including Igor Ignatov and Alexander Khotzin.
During searches of another entrepreneur, Vladimir Bogdanov, 'unregistered combat weapons' were discovered, leading to accusations of illegal storage. The investigation also does not rule out the discovery of other corruption schemes in the defense sector and bringing additional individuals to justice.
Investigations into corruption schemes continue in the Russian defense sector. Law enforcement accused the head of the medical center of embezzling millions of rubles in the procurement of equipment and discovered illegal storage of combat weapons from another entrepreneur. The authorities do not rule out finding other violations that could lead to the prosecution of even more individuals.
