The USA allocated $24 million in aid to the Caribbean after Hurricane Melissa
According to glavcom.ua: The United States announced the allocation of $24 million in aid to Jamaica, Haiti, the Bahamas, and Cuba following Hurricane 'Melissa' of category five, which claimed the lives of at least 50 people. The U.S. State Department has already sent teams to coordinate humanitarian aid, and additional aid packages are expected to be announced in the coming days.
Aid to Cuba
Separately, $3 million will be directed to help Cuba through the Catholic Church according to Secretary of State Marco Rubio's statement on the humanitarian need on the island.
The State Department continues to work with international partners to provide aid to affected areas of the Caribbean. Hurricane 'Melissa' has become the strongest hurricane in the region in recent years, causing widespread destruction and serious consequences for the population and infrastructure.
Interestingly, even after the announced $24 million in aid, the most affected countries in the Caribbean are still facing significant challenges in recovering from Hurricane 'Melissa'.
