В Києві винесли вирок у справі жорстокого вбивства літньої жінки – суд призначив покарання на строк 8,5 років.

Ruling by the Dnipro District Court

According to Главком: A 47-year-old man has been sentenced to 8.5 years in prison by the Dnipro District Court of Kyiv for beating a 75-year-old pensioner to death. This tragic event occurred in March 2026 in the Bereznyaky neighborhood of Kyiv.

The convicted individual was heavily intoxicated at the time of the incident. According to court records, the victim attempted to avoid a confrontation and walked away, but the man chased her down, knocked her onto the asphalt, and struck her multiple times in the body and head with his foot. These actions caused severe injuries, including:

  • a closed head injury,
  • a brain contusion,
  • a fracture of the skull base.

Although the victim was rushed to the hospital, she later died from her injuries. The court found the man guilty under Part 2 of Article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which covers intentional grievous bodily harm resulting in death. Until the verdict takes legal effect, the convicted man will remain in custody.

The Broader Issue of Violence

This case highlights the serious violence faced by vulnerable groups, particularly the elderly. The court's decision may serve as a strong signal to society and law enforcement about the need for additional measures to prevent such crimes and better protect older adults. At the same time, this incident underscores the ongoing problem of alcoholism and its role in driving behavior that leads to tragic outcomes.

This incident is not an isolated case, as highlighted by another recent ruling where a man from the Kyiv region received a 10-year sentence for stabbing his brother and fatally attacking an acquaintance. Such cases reflect a disturbing trend of violence in society, particularly against vulnerable individuals.
