According to Главком: A court in Kyiv has ruled a 28-year-old local man was not criminally responsible for a violent attack on his family in December 2025. The incident occurred in a Kyiv apartment, where the man struck his grandmother in the head with a kettle before strangling her to death. He also assaulted his mother, attempting to strangle her until she lost consciousness. During the attack, the suspect's father was restrained and unable to intervene. A forensic psychiatric examination concluded the suspect suffers from a mental illness with paranoid syndrome. The suspect's actions have been legally classified as intentional murder and a completed attempted murder. He is currently being held in a specialized medical institution.
