Statement from US President Donald Trump

According to Главком: In an interview with CBS News, US President Donald Trump threatened Iran and raised the possibility of seizing control of the Strait of Hormuz. His remarks came as oil prices surged past $100 per barrel on the tenth day of the conflict. This critical global energy chokepoint handles roughly one-fifth of the world's oil shipments, making any disruption a major concern for the global economy.

During the interview, Trump emphasized that he has a plan of action for the situation.

'I have a plan for everything. You'll be very happy,'

he noted. His threat to Iran was explicit when the US President stated:

'They shot everything they could, and they'd better not do anything cute, or else it'll be the end of that country... If they do something bad, it'll be the end of Iran, and you'll never hear that name again.'

Economic Consequences of the Conflict

Since the conflict began, oil prices have shown a sharp increase. Futures for US crude oil jumped by 14.7%, while the benchmark Brent crude reached $104, adding over 12%. This marks the first time since 2022 that the price of oil has surpassed the $100 per barrel mark.

In response to the shifts in the oil market, the G7 nations have declared their readiness to utilize their strategic petroleum reserves. This decision could help stabilize the market and alleviate the price pressure that has emerged due to the escalation of conflict in the region.

President Trump's statements highlight a significant escalation in tensions between the US and Iran, which could have serious repercussions for the global economy, particularly in the energy sector. The Strait of Hormuz's role as a vital artery for oil shipments makes the situation especially critical, as any action concerning its control could lead to substantial upheavals in the world energy market.
