Trump Claims Zelenskyy Is a Tougher Negotiator Than Putin
Trump's Accusations Against Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy
According to ХВИЛЯ: In an interview with NBC News, former U.S. President Donald Trump accused Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy of obstructing peace talks. Trump expressed surprise that Zelenskyy was unwilling to negotiate, urging him to do so because, according to Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin is ready for discussions. These remarks come amid ongoing U.S. debates over the future of military aid to Ukraine.
“Tell Zelenskyy to make a deal, because Putin is ready to make a deal. Zelenskyy is much harder to deal with,” Trump stated.
Comments on Iran and Sanctions
During the same interview, Trump dismissed a Ukrainian offer to assist U.S. and allied forces in intercepting Iranian drones in the Middle East. He also commented on sanctions policy, noting that Washington had temporarily lifted sanctions on Russian oil to stabilize global prices.
Furthermore, Trump discussed the situation with Iran, stating that U.S. forces had conducted precision strikes on 90 military targets on Iran's Kharg Island, home to a strategic oil terminal.
“Iran wants to make a deal, and I don’t want to make a deal because the terms aren’t good enough yet,” Trump added.
He also remarked, “We completely destroyed it. But we can hit it a few more times just for fun.”
Trump's interview highlighted the complex international landscape involving U.S., Ukrainian, and Iranian interests and reaffirmed a U.S. readiness for active measures in the Middle East. His statements could impact diplomatic relations between Ukraine and the U.S., particularly regarding support for Ukraine in its conflict with Russia. Simultaneously, the focus on Iran and its actions may point to a broader strategic approach by the Trump administration in the region, warranting close analysis by international observers.
