Експрезидент вперше за довгий час побував на матчі найпопулярнішої ліги США.

U.S. President Donald Trump attended a football match between the 'Washington Commanders' and the 'Detroit Lions' on Sunday, November 9. This was reported by 'Glavkom' citing NBC.

The last time a sitting U.S. president attended a national football championship game was in 1978 by Jimmy Carter.

It is worth noting that some fans reacted with boos during the breaks between quarters when the stadium announcer mentioned Trump's presence.

NBC connects Trump's visit to the game with rumors that the new 'Commanders' stadium may be named in his honor. The team has been playing since 1997 at the arena in Landover, Maryland. Demolition of the former home stadium of the Washington club, named after Robert Kennedy, began this year.

The cost of the new arena will be $3.7 billion. Earlier, ESPN reported that Trump wants the new stadium being planned to open in the American capital in 2030 to be named after him.

Neutral speed skater at Putin’s event

It should be noted that Russian speed skater Aleksandra Sayutina, recognized by the International Skating Union (ISU) as a neutral athlete, was present at the annual address of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin to the Federal Assembly.

On February 29, 2024, Sayutina attended Putin's annual address to the Federal Assembly.

Another supporter of Putin, Russian skier Veronika Stepanova, posted a photo on Instagram about Sayutina's participation in the propaganda event.

The Russian speed skater can also be seen in the video broadcast of the event. Along with the neutral athlete Sayutina, Putin's allies and Russian servicemen who participated in the war against Ukraine also took part in the propaganda event.

Participating in such events is a blatant violation of the IOC recommendations regarding neutral athletes.

Donald Trump attended a football match between the 'Washington Commanders' and the 'Detroit Lions'. This evoked mixed feelings among the audience, some of whom expressed their dissatisfaction with boos during announcements about the president's presence. It has also been decided to demolish the old 'Commanders' stadium and build a new one, which may be named after Donald Trump. At the same time, Russian athlete Aleksandra Sayutina, recognized as a neutral athlete, participated in a propaganda event that violates the IOC recommendations regarding the participation of neutral athletes.
