According to hvylya.net: The USA is actively pressuring Europe to abandon Russian gas in favor of American supplies. American officials are lobbying and influencing European governments to ban Russian energy products.
Meanwhile, the Gunvor company attempted to purchase assets from the Russian 'Lukoil', but the deal did not materialize due to American sanctions. Although Gunvor changed its ownership structure, the USA is unsure whether it has distanced itself from Russian interests.
Gunvor was well known to anyone familiar with Russia under Putin.
Currently, US sanctions have caused a drop in the shares of 'Lukoil' and 'Rosneft', indicating that geopolitical movements in the energy sector immediately reflect on the financial markets.
