In 2026, fuel prices will face a double increase: what will change
Ukrainian drivers will feel a double blow to their wallets as early as 2026. On one hand, excise taxes on gasoline and diesel will rise, which, according to experts, will lead to an increase in fuel prices. On the other hand, European sanctions on petroleum products made from Russian oil in third countries, particularly India and Turkey, will come into effect.
'It is unacceptable that through illegal channels, Russian fossil fuel is returning' - emphasized European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
Additionally, U.S. President Donald Trump has already imposed a tariff on India due to its cooperation with Russia in the energy sector, while Turkey has been urged to abandon Russian oil. In particular, all these changes may hit the wallets of Ukrainian drivers with rising fuel prices and other financial difficulties.
New reforms will also affect drivers: age restrictions for operating mopeds and buses, as well as mandatory tests for drivers aged 65 and older. Furthermore, those who drive in Poland should consider changes in regulations, as Ukrainian driver's licenses may become invalid after staying in the country for 180 days. It is recommended to exchange them for Polish licenses to avoid inconveniences.
