Czech Republic: Record Influx of Ukrainian Refugees Due to Changes in Departure Rules
Ukrainian refugees are increasingly choosing the Czech Republic as a country for temporary residence. According to the country's Ministry of Interior, the number of granted temporary protection permits has significantly increased in recent months, reaching a record high.
In September, 13,500 permits were issued, setting a record for this year. Currently, the number of Ukrainian refugees in the Czech Republic is approaching 400,000, which is the highest figure in the EU per capita.
The spokesperson for the Czech Ministry of Interior, Hana Malá, explained that the increase in the number of issued permits is related to Kyiv's permission for young people aged 18 to 22 to leave.
It is not surprising that Ukrainian refugees can remain calm in the Czech Republic, as the status of temporary protection is planned to be extended until 2026, despite the change in government. However, in Germany, there are plans to cease state assistance to Ukrainian refugees.
