In the Czech Republic, road fees are increasing again: Attention Ukrainian drivers
In the Czech Republic, from January 1, 2026, electronic vignettes for highway travel will become more expensive again. The country's Ministry of Transport has announced a price increase amid inflation and the expansion of the road network. This was reported by the publication e15.
The annual vignette for passenger cars will rise in price by 130 crowns — to 2570 crowns (approximately 4370 UAH). Short-term options will also increase in price, including ten-day and monthly vignettes. At the same time, ecological vehicles, including electric cars, hydrogen vehicles, and hybrids, will retain preferential or zero rates.
New road tariffs in the Czech Republic from 2026
According to the decision of the Czech Ministry of Transport, the prices for vignettes will be:
annual — 2570 crowns (+130 crowns);
monthly — 480 crowns (+20 crowns);
ten-day — 300 crowns (+10 crowns);
one-day — 230 crowns (+20 crowns).
Owners of cars powered by compressed or liquefied natural gas or biomethane will pay 1280 crowns for an annual vignette, which is half the price for regular cars. For plug-in hybrids, the annual fee will only rise to 640 crowns, while short vignettes (for 10 days or 1 day) will remain unchanged — 70 and 50 crowns, respectively.
Why prices are rising
The Ministry of Transport explains that the cost is determined by a formula that takes inflation and the growth of the highway network into account. These indicators are summed up, after which the result is applied to the price of the previous year. According to government forecasts, this decision will allow the Czech Republic to receive an additional approximately 1 billion crowns in revenue in 2026, which will be used for the development and repair of highways.
As before, people with disabilities (ZTP, ZTP/P) and vehicles transporting children with cancer will be able to use the highways free of charge.
It should be noted that the system of paid roads in the Czech Republic has been in place since 1995, and since 2021, traditional stickers have been replaced by electronic vignettes, which can be purchased online or at terminals at gas stations.
