According to Главком: In the early hours of July 2, 2023, Russian occupation forces unleashed a large-scale bombardment on Kyiv, causing widespread destruction and loss of life. The church dedicated to the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God, part of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church under the Moscow Patriarchate and located within the First Darnytsia Deanery, suffered significant damage. The blast shattered windows, damaged icons, the altar area, walls, doors, and window frames. Cracks appeared in the church walls, while the surrounding grounds and the church shop building were also heavily impacted.
Aftermath of the Attack
The assault on the capital resulted in fatalities and injuries. Reports indicate fires broke out in several districts, along with destruction of civilian infrastructure and residential buildings. In the Kyiv region, three men were wounded, two of whom required hospitalization. The attack involved a combination of strike drones and various types of air-, ground-, and sea-launched missiles.
Additionally, the shelling destroyed a warehouse belonging to the Moyo electronics and appliance retail chain. Local authorities declared July 3 a day of mourning for the victims. The church's rector, Archpriest Vasyl Klym, emphasized the need to
