According to Главком: A 29-year-old man was arrested in Kyiv's Sviatoshyn district for stealing a Lada (VAZ) vehicle. The suspect tricked the owner by showing a fake bank transfer screenshot, then drove off while the victim checked his account. This individual had a prior criminal record for similar offenses, indicating a pattern of repeat offending.
Authorities have charged him under Part 2 of Article 289 of Ukraine's Criminal Code, which covers illegal vehicle seizure committed by a repeat offender. The court ordered pretrial detention without the possibility of bail. If convicted, he faces up to eight years in prison plus confiscation of property.
