New Traffic Lights Being Tested in Kyiv: How the Greek Cross Will Change Turning Rules

In Kyiv, starting from November 11, a new traffic light signal 'Greek Cross' will be implemented at the intersection of Volodymyrska Street and Taras Shevchenko Boulevard. This innovation is initiated to ensure the safety of drivers, especially during left turns. For the first time in Ukraine, the European experience of organizing road traffic has been adopted.The traffic light with the 'Greek Cross' adds another section with a red signal in the shape of an equilateral cross, allowing drivers to safely make left turns. This signal does not obstruct traffic; on the contrary, it highlights the possibility of maneuvering by halting the opposite flow of traffic. Testing of the new system will last for two months, after which it will be decided how effective this innovation is. We remind drivers to adhere to traffic rules and carefully observe traffic light signals for their own safety on the road.
