The Ghost Unit in Crimea destroyed two unique Russian amphibious aircraft
The Be-12 'Chayka' amphibious aircraft is used for anti-submarine warfare and is equipped with costly technology for this purpose. In addition to the two Be-12 aircraft, during the attack on Crimea, the scouts also managed to damage a Mi-8 helicopter belonging to the Russian occupiers.
Yesterday, September 21, soldiers of the special unit of the Main Intelligence Directorate 'Ghosts' attacked two Russian amphibious anti-submarine aircraft Be-12 'Chayka'. This was the first strike against aircraft of this type in history. This is reported by 'Hlavkom' referencing the GUR.
Be-12: characteristics and use
The Be-12 aircraft has the following parameters: fuselage length - 30 meters, wingspan - also 30 meters, maximum takeoff weight - 36 tons, possible payload up to 3000 kg, patrol speed - up to 320 km/h, and maximum speed - up to 550 km/h. The aircraft can fly up to 4000 km and has a patrol range of about 600-650 km.
Experts note that the characteristic 'amphibian' for the Be-12 is conditional, as due to technical issues, pilots do not risk using these aircraft from the water and only lift them into the air from 'land' airfields.
The incident that occurred in occupied Crimea indicates the unwillingness of certain groups to continue collaborating with the Russian occupiers. The attack on the Russian amphibious aircraft Be-12 'Chayka', which is used for anti-submarine warfare, is an important demonstration of the lack of support from the militants in the occupied territory.
