In Kropyvnytskyi discussed the increase in travel costs: it is proposed to postpone
In Kropyvnytskyi, during a public hearing, they discussed the possible increase in travel fares for municipal buses and trolleybuses. Despite the financial difficulties of the carrier, participants of the meeting suggested not to change ticket prices until the end of the martial law and for another six months after it. This was reported by Suspilne.
The increase in travel costs in Kropyvnytskyi is explained by the rising expenses of the carrier
According to Viktor Zhytyn, head of the city transport and communications department, the current tariffs no longer cover the actual expenses of the municipal enterprise 'Electrotrans'.
The main reasons are:
- an almost 50% increase in electricity prices;
- the rising cost of spare parts;
- a shortage of drivers and conductors;
- increased labor costs.
According to the city council, after the last tariff review in January 2025, the price of electricity for the enterprise has risen from nearly 10 to 15 hryvnias per kWh. Every month, 'Electrotrans' consumes about 500 thousand kWh of electricity.
The enterprise also incurred losses of about 27 million hryvnias due to economically unreasonable tariffs in the first quarter of 2026.
New tariffs in Kropyvnytskyi are proposed to be introduced after the war
During the more than two-hour discussion, residents asked questions regarding financial calculations, the work of private carriers, and the implementation of an electronic ticket, which is already included in the new tariff project.
Particular attention was paid to preferential travel. The city council assured that free travel in public transport for pensioners will not be limited regardless of the number of trips.
Some participants opposed any increase in travel costs, arguing that families are facing a difficult economic situation. Following the hearings, a proposal was made to postpone the review of tariffs until the end of martial law and for another six months after that.
At the same time, the project of new tariffs has already been prepared. If approved, the fare for trolleybuses will cost 12 hryvnias for cashless payment and 15 hryvnias for a paper ticket. For municipal buses, a tariff of 20 hryvnias is proposed for cashless payment and 23 hryvnias for cash payment.
Let us remind you that in Kropyvnytskyi, testing of the electronic ticket system in public transport has begun.
