Mass poisoning in Lviv school: 10 affected, including 9 children
According to glavcom.ua: In Lviv, ten individuals, including nine children and a teacher, were hospitalized due to symptoms of acute intestinal infection after eating in the school cafeteria. Nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhea were the symptoms they experienced after the cafeteria. The patients were hospitalized at the Lviv Regional Infectious Diseases Hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment.
“Children started arriving on November 5, on this day two students were hospitalized, on November 6 - five, and on November 7 - three more. Currently, there are 9 students and a teacher receiving treatment in the hospital,” said the medical director of the hospital Andriy Orfin.
The medical director of the hospital confirmed that the condition of the patients is assessed as moderate severity, and the cause of the poisoning is still unknown. Specialists are conducting an investigation, interviewing the sick, studying the products consumed, and interacting with the staff of the institution to determine the causes of the poisoning.
Outbreaks of acute intestinal infections in various regions:
The Ministry of Health has recorded three outbreaks of acute intestinal infections in other regions, with 70 people affected, including 19 children. Also, four cases of acute intestinal infection among children from a preschool institution in the Dnipro district of Kyiv have been recorded, who are also receiving treatment and undergoing examinations to determine the source of infection.
The news of the poisoning in Lviv has become only part of a wider outbreak of infections in various regions of Ukraine, which is still under close control by medical services. Medical professionals are already conducting thorough research to establish the causes of these incidents and prevent similar cases in the future.
