In Lviv, 65 buses were checked for air conditioners: many fines
In Lviv, control over the operation of air conditioners in public transport has been intensified amid summer heat and passenger complaints. During the latest inspection, inspectors examined dozens of buses on urban routes and found a number of violations for which carriers will have to pay fines. This was reported by the Lviv City Council.
Air conditioners in Lviv buses checked on 15 routes
On June 22, employees of the city transport department checked 65 buses operating on 15 routes in Lviv. The inspection covered routes No. 11, 14, 20, 21, 23, 32, 34, 37, 41, 43, 48, 51, 53, 80, and 84.
As a result of the inspection, faulty air conditioning systems were found in 12 buses. The most violations were recorded on routes No. 34 and No. 14.
Another ten vehicles did not have air conditioners at all, as such a configuration is not provided by the manufacturer.
Fines will be imposed on five Lviv carriers
Due to the identified violations, several carriers will pay fines of 1700 hryvnias each. These include the joint-stock company 'Lviv ATP-14630', LLC 'Mira i K', LLC 'Fiakr-Lviv', Lviv ATP-1, and LLC 'Uspikh-BM'.
According to Oleh Zabyryla, the director of the Department of Urban Mobility and Street Infrastructure of the Lviv City Council, the city will continue to regularly publish the results of such inspections.
'We check whether the cooling systems are functioning and whether drivers turn them on at all. We will make all this information public so that carriers understand their social responsibility to passengers primarily,' noted the official.
Not all public transport in Lviv is equipped with air conditioners
The city council emphasizes that far not all rolling stock has cooling systems. Of more than 500 buses operating in Lviv, only over 180 are equipped with air conditioners.
A similar situation is observed in electric transport. Every day, 134 trams and trolleybuses are put into operation, however, air conditioners are installed in more than 60 units.
For the convenience of passengers, special stickers informing about the absence of air conditioning have begun to be placed in transport. Residents are also encouraged to report faulty cooling systems or ventilation problems via the city hotline 15-80.
Earlier, inspections in Lviv were intensified after numerous complaints from residents about heat and stuffiness in public transport cabins. Just the day before, inspectors checked another 85 buses of private carriers.
It is worth noting that in Lviv, a square named after Andrii Parubii was opened.
