Geneva Hosts Talks on Ukraine's Security and Post-Conflict Recovery

According to ХВИЛЯ: A new round of high-level discussions concerning Ukraine's security and reconstruction has concluded in Geneva. The head of Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council, Rustem Umerov, stated that meetings were held in both a bilateral format with a U.S. delegation and a trilateral format involving Switzerland. The Ukrainian side included representatives such as David Arakhamia, head of the 'Servant of the People' parliamentary faction, while the U.S. was represented by Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.

Core Agenda of the Discussions

Participants focused on security arrangements, economic solutions, and Ukraine's recovery needs. Umerov noted that the teams agreed to continue working on a document outlining a future reconstruction and investment plan. He also emphasized preparations for a subsequent negotiation round aimed at finalizing agreed positions, which will form the basis for further agreements.

“The goal is to make the next trilateral meeting involving the U.S. and Russia as substantive as possible,” stressed Rustem Umerov.

Following the meetings, a joint conversation was held with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, underscoring the active involvement of Ukraine's leadership in the process.

These talks highlight the ongoing international support for Ukraine's post-conflict rebuilding efforts and a sustained focus on regional security. The involvement of Switzerland as a neutral party is a significant diplomatic step, often seen as a way to build broader consensus, especially given the potential for future Russian participation. The outcomes from Geneva are expected to shape critical next steps in Ukraine's recovery and its path toward greater international integration.
