According to МЗС: At the XIV Winter Paralympic Games, held from March 6 to 15 in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy, Team Ukraine finished third in the overall medal standings, securing a total of 19 medals. This impressive performance was delivered by a delegation of 25 athletes with disabilities and 10 guide athletes, marking the largest team Ukraine has ever sent to a Winter Paralympics since gaining independence. The athletes, representing 11 different regions of Ukraine, competed in three sports: para biathlon, para cross-country skiing, and para alpine skiing.

Medalists and Accomplishments

Sixteen members of the Ukrainian team earned podium finishes. Oleksandra Kononova led the medal haul with five, while Taras Rad claimed four. Despite facing significant challenges, the Ukrainian athletes demonstrated exceptional skill and represented their country with distinction on the world stage. In the ranking by gold medals alone, Ukraine placed seventh.

Ukraine has now consistently placed within the top three nations for total medals at the last six consecutive Winter Paralympic Games. This sustained excellence highlights the remarkable progress of Ukrainian Paralympians, their dedication to sport, and the positive international image they foster for their country. The Paralympic movement in Ukraine has grown significantly, providing a crucial platform for athletes with disabilities.

These results are a testament to the development of the Paralympic movement in Ukraine and the increasing support available for athletes with disabilities.

The Games serve as a vital platform for Ukrainians to showcase their achievements, promoting the formation of a more inclusive society. Success on the international stage also helps popularize sport among youth and improves the social perception of people with disabilities within Ukraine.

Following this success, it is noteworthy that the Ukrainian team has maintained a strong presence in international competitions, as evidenced by their top-ten finish at the 2026 Winter Paralympics with 19 medals. This consistency in performance underscores the growth and development of the Paralympic movement in Ukraine, further solidifying their reputation on the global stage.
