Mindycheyt Scandal: Expert on Impact on Zelensky and Threat to Ukraine

According to hvylya.net: Energy expert Viktor Kurtev believes that the scandal surrounding Timur Mindych and 'Energoatom' is just the tip of the iceberg of many years of problems in Ukraine's state energy sector. He emphasizes that criticism of the company has only become possible now, although the issues have been accumulating for many years.

'Everyone considers it their duty to dig into the already almost dead but still warm body of 'Energoatom'. Completely collapsed, with no supervisory board, and so on. Because now it has become possible to do this. A year ago, two years ago, three years ago, four years ago, this could not be done,' said Kurtev.

The expert emphasizes that corruption in large state companies such as 'Naftogaz' and 'Energoatom' was known to everyone, but it was explicitly not talked about. According to him, schemes only changed with the arrival of new authorities, and the companies were the 'businesses of presidents' starting from Leonid Kuchma.
