Ukraine risks losing its place in the global nut export market
According to hvylya.net: The Ukrainian walnut export has almost completely stopped after the government introduced an export control regime in the country. This was stated by the president of the Ukrainian Walnut Association, Gennady Yudin.
The new regulation has critically affected the industry, especially in November and December, when a quarter of the annual walnut trade volume is usually processed. Last year, only 1% of the usual volume was achieved during this period.
Ukraine previously ranked 4th in the world in walnut exports, selling over 23,000 tons annually. Losing such positions could lead to negative consequences for producers and the country's overall export revenues.
'Today we are losing funds and global markets that could be quickly taken over by other suppliers. Therefore, I hope that appropriate legislative changes will be made before the start of the new season,' emphasized Gennady Yudin.
Industry representatives express hope for a review of government decisions before the start of the next season to restore export supplies and maintain Ukraine's position in the global nut market.
Despite the sharp decline in Ukrainian walnut exports, the industry hopes for changes in government decisions to restore lost positions and prevent further economic damage to the country.
