Details of the Proposed 'Drone Deal'

According to Главком: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has revealed a proposal to the United States for a 'drone deal' focused on exporting Ukrainian defense technology. The initiative, currently under discussion, is projected to be worth between $35 and $50 billion. The project would establish export infrastructure for Ukrainian drones, artificial intelligence-based systems, and electronic warfare technologies.

Ukraine first presented this proposal to the U.S. approximately a year ago, receiving an initial signal of interest from Donald Trump at that time. U.S. military officials have also confirmed their interest in such an agreement, and the matter has been discussed several times with the American leadership in Washington. Despite active negotiations, uncertainties remain regarding the project's timeline and funding.

Cooperation Framework and Technologies

Zelenskyy noted the system could involve the work of up to 200 companies.

"We are talking about a system in which up to 200 companies could operate. And the U.S. side would make the selection," the President stated.

He added that Ukraine already has drone agreements with European nations and is receiving inquiries from the Middle East, Gulf states, Africa, and several other countries.

The initial conversation with the U.S. took place about a year ago, with the deal envisioning long-term drone supply.

"We are also ready for a joint production option. Joint production in the U.S. would be a 50/50 enterprise. We agree to that," Zelenskyy emphasized.

He explained the division would involve 50% Ukrainian engineers and 50% American, granting both nations access to cutting-edge technologies and shared drone manufacturing.

In conclusion, the Ukrainian President noted that a definitive response from the U.S. has not yet been received. "We have not signed a document with President Trump. I have no answer as to why. Perhaps it will happen later, but I am not sure," he remarked.

This initiative could significantly strengthen technological cooperation between Ukraine and the United States, marking a crucial step for the development of Ukraine's defense industry. Successful implementation could positively impact the national economy by creating new jobs and fostering innovation. Furthermore, it would underscore a strategic partnership in security and defense, particularly within the current geopolitical context. If signed, the deal could position Ukraine as a key player in the global market for drones and defense technologies.
