In Poland, citizens suffering from alcohol dependence receive special assistance that allows them to obtain financial support in case of loss of work ability due to alcohol addiction. This program is part of the country's social measures. According to media reports, the monthly assistance can amount to about 1879 zlotys in case of complete loss of work ability and approximately 1409 zlotys for partial loss.

In Poland, there is a special social program for people who can no longer work due to illnesses caused by alcohol dependence.

The Ukrainian support system has a different approach. In Ukraine, alcoholism alone is not grounds for receiving disability. Disability can only be assigned in the presence of serious accompanying diseases, such as liver cirrhosis. Additionally, Ukrainian legislation does not provide for the payment of sick leave in the case of incapacity due to alcohol intoxication.

Different Approaches to Support

Support systems for alcohol-dependent individuals exist in many countries, and each of them may have differences. For example, in Germany, alcoholism can also be recognized as grounds for granting disability of varying degrees depending on the severity of the disease. Various benefits, housing assistance, and the possibility of long-term medical leave can be advantages.

Poland and Ukraine have different approaches to supporting citizens with alcohol dependence. Poland provides special assistance to alcohol dependents, while in Ukraine, the recognition of disability due to alcoholism is more strictly regulated. Different countries have their own social programs and approaches to providing assistance in this area.
