Heating tariffs in Ukraine: where the cheapest and most expensive heat is
The heating season in October starts in Ukraine at the beginning of heat supply after three days with an average daily temperature below +8°C. Initially, kindergartens, schools, and hospitals receive heating, and then residential buildings.
Although during martial law there is a freeze on tariffs, the difference in the cost of heat supply between regions remains significant. According to communal enterprises, the experts of 'Slova i Dila' have established a large difference in tariffs between regional centers.
The highest tariff is recorded in Kherson - 2,002.2 UAH per Gcal. Following in the ranking are Zhytomyr - 1,964.3 UAH, Rivne - 1,913.2 UAH, Mykolaiv - 1,873.4 UAH, and Odesa - 1,813.9 UAH.
In Kyiv, heating costs 1,654.4 UAH per Gcal, in Dnipro - 1,741.3 UAH, in Zaporizhzhia - 1,655.1 UAH. Kharkiv and Lviv have the same tariff of 1,539.5 UAH.
In Khmelnytskyi, the tariff is 1,597.7 UAH, in Sumy - 1,559.7 UAH. Cherkasy - 1,407.9 UAH, Chernihiv - 1,406.9 UAH. Vinnytsia set a price of 1,314.1 UAH per Gcal.
Ivano-Frankivsk (1,285.1 UAH), Poltava (1,267.3 UAH), and Chernivtsi - 1,204.6 UAH per Gcal have the lowest tariffs among regional centers in Ukraine.
In some cities, prices may differ due to several suppliers. For example, in October of the Transcarpathian region, it was decided in 2004 to switch to individual heating systems.
