Streamlining the procedure for obtaining utility benefits for war veterans

The press service of the Pension Fund of Ukraine reported that the procedure for Ukrainians to obtain benefits for utility payments has been simplified.

Now, for veterans of the war in Ukraine, instead of two applications, only one needs to be submitted. This can be done in person, by mail, or electronically via the Pension Fund's website. The innovation aims to reduce bureaucratic procedures and facilitate access to benefits, especially for veterans who often face difficulties in collecting documents.

The simplification was made possible by the Cabinet of Ministers' resolution of December 27, 2023, No. 1395, which launched a pilot project to improve the registration procedure for veterans and provide them with benefits. Previously, two separate documents had to be submitted.

Now, veterans submit a single simplified application for registration and obtaining benefits simultaneously. The application can be submitted not only by the veterans themselves but also by their family members if they have such a right, which significantly eases the process of obtaining benefits.

Ways to submit an application

  • In person at the PFU service center;
  • By mail to the appropriate PFU office;
  • Online through the PFU web portal.

How to submit an application online

  • Log in to the PFU portal using an electronic digital signature (EDS);
  • In the left menu, select 'Application for housing subsidy or benefit';
  • Fill out the form with personal, passport, address, and banking details;
  • Confirm your consent to the processing of personal data and send the application to the PFU.
Representatives of the Pension Fund emphasize that the goal of the experiment is to simplify veterans' access to state benefits and gradually transition social services to an electronic format.

This system may extend to other categories of citizens, increasing the accessibility of social services.

Ukrainian war veterans have had the procedure for obtaining utility benefits simplified; instead of two applications, they now only need to submit one. This will allow veterans and their families to obtain benefits more easily, reducing bureaucratic difficulties. This initiative aims to improve access to benefits and enhance social services and may be expanded to other categories of citizens.
