Ukrainian Actress Details Stressful Border Incident with Polish Official
Border Tensions
According to Главком: Ukrainian actress Kateryna Kuznetsova has described a distressing confrontation with a Polish border guard officer during a nighttime crossing. The incident occurred as she was traveling to Spain with her mother. The guard, speaking Polish-a language Kuznetsova does not understand despite speaking English-conducted an extensive search of her personal belongings. The officer also challenged the validity of Kuznetsova's Spanish residency card, insisting it had expired.
Kuznetsova attempted to explain that in Spain, such cards are automatically renewed. The border guard, however, remained inflexible. Bus drivers intervened, explaining the potential consequences of her situation to the actress. Recalling the event, Kuznetsova described her intense stress:
"I was shaking all over, and she told me I would now be taken to the 'pit.' The drivers were explaining to me what kind of situation could unfold right then. At that moment, my mother led me away; I just stepped aside." - Kateryna Kuznetsova
This is not the first time Kuznetsova has faced issues with Polish border authorities. She has encountered problems during previous crossings. Prior to leaving the Russian Federation in early 2022 following the onset of Russian aggression, she was also involved in a public conflict with director Tigran Keosayan. Kuznetsova is best known internationally for her role as waitress Sasha in the popular TV series 'The Kitchen.'
Future Plans
In light of recent events, the actress now plans to avoid Polish border crossings in the future.
The clash between Kateryna Kuznetsova and the Polish border service highlights the difficulties travelers can face between countries, particularly due to language barriers and complex administrative rules. Such incidents can significantly disrupt travel plans and cause considerable emotional distress, as was the case for the actress. Given her history of border issues, it is likely similar situations could hinder future travel to Poland for her. Border procedures in Eastern Europe have been under increased strain since the war in Ukraine began, affecting many travelers' experiences.
