In the semifinals, she defeated Ukrainian Arina Mashurenko, who went on to win a bronze medal by beating Serbia's Nina Adric. Tsurkan then overcame Georgia's Tinatin Gulbani in the final, securing her place at the top of the podium.

Last year, Tsurkan refused to represent Ukraine internationally and subsequently earned a silver medal at the World Cadet Championships as part of the Slovenian team.
