Ukrainian milk loses the market of Uzbekistan: Russian dumping and local production
Situation in the dairy market in Uzbekistan
According to Главком: Ukrainian dairy enterprises are reducing supplies to Uzbekistan due to competition from Russian and Belarusian companies, as well as the development of local production in this country. The General Director of 'Khorol Baby Food Plant' Olexandr Suchko noted that Belarusian and Russian producers are actively dumping in the Uzbek market. This has become especially noticeable in the case of regular milk, which Ukraine practically does not export to Uzbekistan.
The export director of 'COMO' Oleksiy Dykhterenkо also emphasized that the Russian and Belarusian business is currently looking for alternatives and new markets, including in Central Asian countries. Traditionally, Ukrainian producers had strong positions in these regions but are now facing serious competition.
Challenges for Ukrainian dairy enterprises
In September this year, the reduction of supplies of Ukrainian butter, dry milk, and casein became unprofitable. In addition, American dairy products are also cheaper and displacing Ukrainian products in the European market. These factors together create a difficult situation for Ukrainian dairy enterprises that are trying to maintain their positions in the international market.
The reduction of supplies of Ukrainian dairy products to Uzbekistan is a worrying signal for the sector, considering the importance of this market for Ukrainian exporters. Competition from Russian and Belarusian producers, as well as other external economic factors, could negatively affect the stability and development of the Ukrainian dairy industry in the future. In the context of globalization and changing consumer preferences, Ukrainian enterprises need to adapt their strategies to maintain competitiveness.
