According to Главком: Ukraine is waging a systematic drone campaign against Russian forces, which has dramatically increased the operational range of its unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). These drones can now strike targets up to 150 kilometers behind the front lines, a threefold increase from just a few weeks ago when their effective range was around 50 kilometers. This expansion of the strike zone is a significant tactical development in the conflict.

Targeting Critical Russian Air Defense Systems

The Armed Forces of Ukraine have deployed heavy bomber drones to attack key Russian military assets, including:

• Electronic warfare (EW) systems
• Anti-aircraft artillery units
• Equipment used for launching strikes or intercepting drones

Destroyed Russian air defense systems include the Buk, Tor, and Pantsir-S1 models. The degradation of these systems is crucial for establishing airspace control.

Additionally, Dimko Zhluktenko noted that in some instances, Russian units have resorted to removing multi-barrel machine gun mounts from old Soviet attack helicopters and installing them on makeshift trucks to counter drones. Dmytro Zhluktenko summarized the situation: "I think the results speak for themselves. Russia is losing a huge number of rare air defense systems and radars, and there is no way to replenish them quickly." This highlights the asymmetric nature of the drone war, where cheaper Ukrainian technology is attriting expensive Russian hardware.

Consequently, Ukraine's use of drones is substantially impacting the course of combat, providing its forces with new capabilities to fight Russian troops.
