Ukrainian Fire Point Drones Strike Oil Refinery in Tyumen, 2,070 Kilometers Away
Ukraine’s Response to Russian Attacks
According to Главком: In an interview with the national joint telethon, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky declared that his country would deliver a daily response to Russian shelling, emphasizing that
“every day Russia shells us, there will be an answer that will steadily intensify”
. As part of this strategy, new Fire Point drones successfully hit an oil refinery in the Tyumen region, located 2,070 kilometers from Ukraine. The drones flew a route spanning 2,500 kilometers, and Ukrainian developers plan to create unmanned systems with a range exceeding 3,000 kilometers.
Escalating Tensions
During the latest attack on the Moscow Oil Refinery, three layers of Russian air defense failed to intercept all Ukrainian drones. Meanwhile, Russian air defense missiles fell within Moscow’s territory, causing damage. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov praised the performance of Russian air defenses after the strike but added that
“Russia will continue to strike targets in Ukraine”
.
On June 18, drones once again targeted the Moscow Oil Refinery in the Kapotnya district, with fires reported at other industrial sites in the Moscow region. Zelensky confirmed this was the second strike on the Moscow refinery in a week. Amid the rising tensions, the Ukrainian president also stated that
“it is time to end this war, and Russia must take the necessary diplomatic steps”
.
The conflict between Ukraine and Russia continues to intensify, with both sides demonstrating a readiness for further action. These reciprocal attacks show no sign of de-escalation, and the development of new military technologies-especially drones-could fuel further escalation. In this context, international efforts to find a peaceful resolution remain crucial.
As the conflict escalates, recent drone strikes have prompted discussions about potential diplomatic solutions. In light of the ongoing military actions, including the targeted attacks on Moscow, Russia has indicated a willingness to engage in negotiations. This shift in tone could impact the trajectory of the conflict and the future of Ukraine-Russia relations.
