Ukrainian Pair Skaters Secure Bronze Medal

According to Главком: Ukrainian figure skaters Hanna Herrera and Ivan Khobta have captured the bronze medal in the pairs event at the World Junior Figure Skating Championships in Tallinn, Estonia. The duo earned a total score of 160.15 points across their two programs, securing them third place on the podium. This result is a significant achievement for Ukraine in a sport where Eastern European nations have a storied history of success.

Victory at the championship went to the Canadian pair of Ava Kemp and Yonathan Elizarov, who scored 167.90 points. Another Canadian duo, Jasmine Derochier and Kieran Thrasher, took the silver medal with a score of 162.25 points. After the short program, Herrera and Khobta were in fifth place with 56.95 points, but they delivered an excellent free skate, achieving the second-highest score in that segment to climb to the bronze medal position.

A New Partnership Makes Its Debut

This championship marked the competitive debut for the new pairing of Herrera and Khobta. Hanna Herrera previously competed as a singles skater for the United States, while Ivan Khobta had already won a bronze medal at the 2023 World Junior Championships with a different partner. The World Junior Figure Skating Championships are being held in Tallinn from March 3 to 8, 2026, to crown the world's best young athletes across four disciplines:

  • men's and women's singles,
  • pairs,
  • ice dance.
