According to Главком: In a landmark moment for Ukrainian winter sports, 16-year-old snowboarder Volodymyr Luchkin clinched a bronze medal at the FIS Junior World Championships in Calgary, Canada. His performance in the slopestyle event made him the first Ukrainian athlete ever to medal in this discipline at the junior world level. This success highlights the emerging talent in Ukrainian snowboarding, a sport gaining global popularity.

Competing at the FIS Junior World Championship, Luchkin delivered impressive results. He placed fourth in the slopestyle qualifiers with a score of 80.66 points. In the finals, he improved his performance significantly, scoring 84.50 points to secure the third podium position. The gold medal was won by Japan's Hiromu Watanabe with 93.25 points, while American Colin France took silver with 89.25 points.

Ukraine's Results at the 2026 Winter Olympics

Separately, the Ukrainian national team concluded its participation in the 2026 Winter Olympics without winning a medal. However, Ukrainian athletes achieved eight top-ten finishes across various events, demonstrating their competitive presence on the world stage. The team's participation was a significant achievement given the immense challenges the nation has faced in recent years.

  • Sixth place: Angelina Brykina, Oleksandr Okypniuk, Dmytro Kotovskyi (freestyle skiing, aerials, mixed team); Yulianna Tunytska, Ihor Hoi, Nazarii Kachmar, Andrii Mandzii, Oleksandra Moh, and Olena Stetskiv (luge, team relay).
