Ukrainian Soldiers Barred from Switching Newly Signed Contracts
New Contract Policy for Military Personnel
According to ХВИЛЯ: Ukraine's Ministry of Defense has announced that service members who sign one of the new contract types-infantry-assault, combat, or basic-will not be allowed to switch to a different contract category on their own. Once an infantry-assault, combat, or basic contract is signed, transitioning to another new contract is prohibited.
Categories Ineligible for New Contracts
Certain groups have also been identified as ineligible to sign the infantry-assault contract. These include:
- Military personnel serving under the 18-24 contract;
- Individuals aged 60 or older who have signed a one-year agreement;
- Those released from serving a sentence to serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
At the same time, instructors at training centers are permitted to sign contracts for either 10 or 24 months.
The introduction of these new contract rules for military personnel may reflect the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine's aim to ensure stability and control within military units. Restricting contract switches could reduce the risk of frequent personnel changes in units, potentially boosting combat readiness.
Another key element is the specification of categories barred from signing new contracts, which may be designed to maintain an optimal composition of military formations. These changes could significantly impact the recruitment process for the Armed Forces of Ukraine and personnel management in the military domain.
The recent changes in military contract regulations may also be linked to the upcoming launch of a new defense contract system in Ukraine, set to commence on June 15. This initiative aims to streamline personnel management and enhance operational effectiveness within the Armed Forces. Understanding these developments can provide deeper insights into the evolving landscape of military service in Ukraine.
