Ukraine faces sharp cold: down to -23° and snowfalls up to 25 cm
Weather forecast in Ukraine from January 8 to 11
According to Главком: In Ukraine, from January 8 to 11, worsening weather conditions are forecasted, accompanied by snowfalls, blizzards, and a drop in air temperature. According to meteorologists, significant precipitation in the form of snow and ice is expected across the country during this period.
Expected weather conditions
In particular, on January 8-9, the following is forecasted in Ukraine:
- Snow, blizzards, and ice, especially in the western and northern regions, as well as in Vinnytsia and Cherkasy, where locally up to 25 cm of snow may accumulate.
- In the western, Vinnytsia, and Zhytomyr regions, snow cover growth is expected to reach 10-25 cm.
- In Kyiv and Chernihiv regions, snow is forecasted, with snow cover growth of 5-15 cm, and in the north – up to 25 cm.
From January 10 to 11, a sharp drop in temperature will occur in Ukraine:
- In the western, northern, Vinnytsia, and Cherkasy regions, temperatures may drop to -23° below zero.
- In Kirovohrad and Poltava regions, temperatures will fluctuate from -6 to -12° at night and during the day.
- In the southern part, eastern, and Dnipropetrovsk regions, temperatures at night and during the day will range from -4° to +4°.
According to the State Emergency Service, on January 8-9, worsening weather is expected, which may lead to disruptions in the operation of energy, construction, and communal enterprises, as well as complicate transport movement on roads and streets.

The deterioration of weather conditions in Ukraine with predicted snowfalls and low temperatures creates risks not only for road movement but also for the functioning of key infrastructure facilities. Citizens are advised to be cautious, plan their trips in advance, and follow the advice of rescuers to avoid unforeseen situations.
