Third graders in Uzhhorod learn to extinguish fires and detect mines
Hands-on safety lessons in Uzhhorod
According to ДСНС: Third-grade students from a local lyceum took part in interactive safety sessions held in Vohnyk. A specialist from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES) led the classes, teaching children how to respond in the event of a fire and explaining the emergency hotline number.
Safety training with a practical twist
As part of the lessons, students learned how to stay safe around explosive devices. The hands-on portion included putting out a simulated fire. The children also got to see how a metal detector works-a tool used to scan areas and buildings for potential threats.
These sessions marked an important step in equipping children with the safety knowledge and proper response skills needed in emergencies.
Teaching children about emergency preparedness is a vital part of their upbringing, helping them face potential dangers with confidence. Interactive programs like these encourage responsible behavior from an early age, which can reduce risks during real-life crises. Regular implementation of such initiatives is crucial, as the skills and knowledge gained can save lives in critical moments.
Similar initiatives are taking place across Ukraine, such as a recent program in Vinnytsia where a rescue worker engaged preschoolers in learning fire safety through interactive play. These efforts highlight the importance of early education in emergency preparedness, reinforcing skills that can be crucial in real-life situations. To explore how such programs are being implemented in different regions, read more about the Vinnytsia experience here.
