How much does a cleaner earn in Sweden in 2026

According to Roman, the employer reviews his salary every year. This time, the rate was increased by 900 kronor, bringing it to 29,900 kronor per month. The man estimated this amount to be around $3,000 or 120,000 hryvnias.

The Ukrainian noted that this income is not considered high for Sweden. However, for someone taking care of the cemetery grounds, this is a fairly decent salary. Roman did not clarify whether this amount was before tax or the money he receives in hand.

He also talked about a colleague who has worked at the same cemetery for over ten years. Her salary was increased by 800 kronor, to 28,800 kronor per month. According to the Ukrainian, the woman was dissatisfied with such a salary review.

What income is enough to live in Sweden in 2026

In Roman's opinion, for a comfortable life, a family in Sweden ideally needs to have two salaries at such a level. He probably meant a household where both partners work.

For comparison, in Ukraine, cleaners at cemetery grounds are usually offered between 8,000 and 15,000 hryvnias per month. The salary depends on the region, the employer, and the scope of duties. At large or specialized facilities, payment can reach 20,000-25,000 hryvnias.

Thus, to earn the equivalent of one monthly Swedish salary, a Ukrainian worker with a rate of 10,000 hryvnias would need about a year. However, a direct comparison does not take into account the differences in taxes and the cost of living in the two countries.
