Betting Scandal in Turkish Football

According to glavcom.ua: President of the Turkish Football Federation Ibrahim Haji Osmanoglu has uncovered massive violations in football betting, according to the publication 'Glavcom'. An internal investigation showed that out of 571 referees, 371 have betting accounts, and 152 of them actively use them. Several referees even placed over 10,000 bets, which raised serious concerns.

“We are determined to rid football of any manifestations of corruption. We will make no exceptions,” said Haji Osmanoglu.

Despite this, there is currently no accurate information on whether referees bet on the matches they officiated. Major Turkish clubs such as 'Galatasaray', 'Fenerbahçe', and 'Beşiktaş' demand full transparency from the federation and the disclosure of the names of the suspects.
