Duration of the War and Strategic Uncertainties

According to Главком: The war initiated by Vladimir Putin has lasted for 1418 days, equating its duration with that of World War II for the USSR. This conflict, which began in February 2022, demonstrates limited advancements by Russian troops, who have gained only a few dozen kilometers over the entire time. Meanwhile, Putin's rule has lasted for 26 years, yet the strategic aim of his military actions remains unclear, as evidenced by Dmitry Kozak's statement that 'Putin does not understand the strategic goal of the war.'

Internal Opposition and Propaganda

At the beginning of the invasion, on January 12, dissenting voices emerged, particularly from Dmitry Kozak, who openly spoke against Putin's will. Mikhail Kasyanov, a former Prime Minister of Russia, also confirmed that Putin would not make compromises, emphasizing the lack of strategic vision in the Kremlin. Furthermore, Russian propaganda continues to employ manipulative historical narratives to justify aggression, comparing the current invasion to Peter I's military campaigns in the 18th century.

Putin's recent statements indicate his determination to continue military actions:

“If Kyiv does not wish to settle the matter peacefully, Russia will address all the objectives of the SMO through armed means.”

These words highlight that the Kremlin lacks a clear strategy, and despite the conflict's duration, military actions do not have a defined course. Given that the war has lasted for over four years, and in light of historical parallels, questions arise about the future of Russian aggression and its consequences for the region.

The duration of the war and Russia's lack of a clear strategy raise concerns among the international community. The unclear goals of the Kremlin, as well as internal opposition among Russian politicians, may indicate potential changes in conflict management. Additionally, the continuation of hostilities and aggressive rhetoric may have serious consequences for stability in Europe and regional security as a whole.
